I have to admit a guilty pleasure of mine...reality TV, yes I said it, but I actually learn as I watch and you can too. Let me prove it to you! If you recall in my last ezine I shared Lesson 1, now it's time for Lesson 2.

Have you watched the reality show called "The Shark Tank"?  It really lives up to its name. On one episode, I yelled at the TV so much I almost lost my voice. The candidate, a small business owner, pitched a need for an investment for equity in his company. As he pitched his company, he communicated with no confidence and little energy and answered questions the same way. Needless to say, the Sharks ate him up and spit him out by offering him a sum of money to sell his company as long as he fires himself. They would not take the company any other way. The small business owner was flabbergasted and shocked but sucked it up and ultimately decided to not sell, he took the high road.

Lesson Learned: You can be the most qualified person for a project or opportunity; however, if you present yourself in an unimpressive way, you lose.

Three Quick Tips to make A great First Impression every time:

1- Always be prepared with your 30 second intro, my formula for networking events:
I am
I help
The solution I provide is

2- Speak with confidence from head to toe, even if you do not believe in yourself, body language is everything. It's actually 58% of how you communicate. If your body language communicates fear and lack of self esteem, there's a problem.

3- If you are attempting to persuade someone with your idea, share the following components:
1- The goal or intended solution
2- Why the current situation is not working
3- The benefits to the audience you are trying to persuade, remember the radio station everyone is tuned in on, WIIFM (what's in it for me?)
